Hey folks. As of 5:00 PM EST, this here petition has over 500
signatures and is growing!!
http://www.petitiononline.com/gdm/petition-sign.html

This is only one of SEVERAL petitions I've seen today, not to mention phone campaigns, and David Gans' forum is flooded with complaints. Shit is happening people, and it's a wonderous thing to see this community come together and fight for what we think is important. And I DON'T mean getting music for free. I mean the cultural, historical and artistic aspects of this issue, not to mention the spiritual aspect of violating a 30+ year agreement with the fans.

To all who disagree with we who are angry - the "shut up and be grateful" philosophy - I say, that's fine. I understand why you don't think this is an issue. I still love ya' though - because we all still love this music. But please repsect our democratic right to protest this policy change. It should be obvious to anyone who has been around the boards and blogs today that we are WAY in the majority on this policy change issue.
There are a LOT of pissed off people out there, more than GDP realizes, but they're about to find out!!

Let's all respectfully disagree. Say and do what we feel we must, but let's keep it polite and in the spirit of the music we love.
Peace to all - sign, write and call 1800 - 225 - 3323
Kiss kiss, hug hug, smoke smoke,
Dr. Flashback

As of 4:20 EST - really! - there are close to 800 signatures on this one alone. That plus the others out there mean that possibly over 2,000 people have already responded in 12 hours. And during daylight hours and the holiday weekend - I expect the numbers will grow significantly.
They picked a bad time to do this - a holiday long weekend when we all have extra time to sign petitions, write letters and call their 800 number!

Mr. Jones?"

I guess I wasn't the only one who knew dr. flashback's reviews were gold. Thanks for your comments, someday we'll see them again when the dust settles. Your reviews were invaluable and led me to a deeper understanding of the Dead, the music's evolution, etc. Glad I got on board when I did and I feel for those who didn't get a chance to download the great shows that used to be here.
I had to think about which side I was on concerning this petition/boycott issue but it didn't take me long to realise what was the right move. I'll be patiently waiting for an official word about the pulling of SBs from the Archive. In the meantime, make your words count, people.

Yeah, whatever goes down here the most important thing is to keep the community intact. I, too, want to thank Dr. Flashback and others for their reviews. The unique thing about the archive was that it was a tool for learning and exploration. I heard all kinds of things I never would have heard if someone hadn't pointed them out in a review. Losing this aspect of the achive experience is what hurts most.

How ironic is it that the top headline on the official Grateful Dead website today is "Bring The Music Back."

I am on board with all this. I am so completely disappointed with all this. Not knowing anything different, it all reeks of greed, or something. But, I do want to say THANK YOU Dr.FLASHBACK! You, more than anyone, provided me with great insight and information on shows, and this is from someone who was first introduced to the dead at age 8 (older brother, Europe '72)and whose first show experience was Englishtown. Thank you man, if you recommended it, I downloaded it, sound unheard. I will miss you my friend. And I will contact the dead (who have BOATLOADS of my money from over the years) to express my disappointment. Stay in Touch!
